Tan Shin Yih (0334900) Experiential Design & Personal Project 1 Week 1 For the first class of experiential design & personal project 1, Mr. Mike brief us about the module and told us that we will have a collaboration project with RMIT students. He also explains to us how the collaboration will be going on and what we need to do for it. For let us understand more to the project we need to do, Mr. Mike also asks us to visit the previous work of RMIT student ( http://rmitdmcc.com/2018/ ). Mr. Mike also sends a survey to us to know everyone specialization so it would be easier to split the group later. We also being told to work with the Australian students for 2 weeks, and we will need to come out of a prototype by this 2 weeks time. We need to work with the RMIT students by this 2 weeks time from 10 am to 6 pm at CODA if we don't have any classes to attend. Description and requirements To produce Opening Title Sequence video by using elements of graphics, video footages, photo images etc. that represents the selected science fiction theme for a short film within 30 Seconds in motion graphics. Specifications Duration: 30 Secs Resolution: 1080p Full HD Format: • H2.64, MPEG4 compression for Presentation & Submission • Audio: 44.100 kHz Stereo Submission • Video softcopy (QuickTime, H2.64) • Upload (Vimeo & YouTube) and embedded in Portfolio Blog • Raw Project files [After Effects and Graphic elements used (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, etc.)] with proper folder naming and with your registered Full Name & Id no.
Mr. Kannan asks us to start searching the reference about our assignment, the style, an element that we wanted to bring out for the title sequences. Besides that, he also asks us to find the movie that we wanted to do for the title sequences or we can also make out a new short film title sequences for our assignment.

I choose the movie "INTERSTELLAR" to produce my title sequences. Then, Mr. Kannan also asks us to draw the sketches of our storyline for our title sequences and also the thumbnails. Below are my mood board. For my title sequence, I will be using the geometrical line, plexus effect, some science math formula, glitch effect to text vector art and also photography. The color scheme that I'll be using is grayscale.

Project 2:
Matte Painting and Visual Effects
Duration of Project
4 weeks
Deadline Week 8 Description and requirements To create Matte Painting on 30-40 seconds live footage. Footages need to be shot by individuals or picked from Royalty free stock video footage and implementation of visual effects that will enhance the shot. Colour grading and layers are important. Final footage must be believable (Must be relative to story, theme, genre and target audience selected.) Specifications Duration: 30-40 secs Resolution: 1080p Full HD Mr. Kannan asks us to start the project by drawing 5 simple sketches and explain to him our concept for the matte painting. Here are the sketches that I showed to Mr. Kannan.
After I showing the sketches to Mr. Kannan, he asks me to try to do the simple mix and match for the sketches that I choose to find the concept feel on the sketches. I choose to do the third sketches for my project 2. Below is the progression of the painting.
At first, I search and choose some photo that suitable for my concept. Then, I try to combine everything into an artboard and see how it feels.
This is the first view of the artboard after I combine and adjust everything in Photoshop.
I also added some smoke and clouds to enhance the feeling of my concept.
Then, I start to do some color adjustment to make everything looks better. I explore with using different color and also the blend effect of Photoshop.
Here are the final looks before I showing to Mr. Kannan.
I also try to put every element into after effect and try to explore with the camera adjustment before showing Mr. Kannan. On week 9, I show the artwork to Mr. Kannan and consult with him. Mr. Kannan show me some way to adjust the camera for my work. Here is the dimension I edit after showing Mr. Kannan.
Mr. Kannan also gives me some advice to improve my artwork like adding some growing plant then try to make some improvement of the color adjustment to make the element at the front darker so that people will feel like getting into the city when they look on the animation.
Final Outcomes
