Experiential Design & Personal Project 1

Tan Shin Yih (0334900) Experiential Design  & Personal Project 1 Week 1 For the first class of experiential design & personal project 1, Mr. Mike brief us about the module and told us that we will have a collaboration project with RMIT students. He also explains to us how the collaboration will be going on and what we need to do for it. For let us understand more to the project we need to do, Mr. Mike also asks us to visit the previous work of RMIT student ( http://rmitdmcc.com/2018/ ). Mr. Mike also sends a survey to us to know everyone specialization so it would be easier to split the group later. We also being told to work with the Australian students for 2 weeks, and we will need to come out of a prototype by this 2 weeks time. We need to work with the RMIT students by this 2 weeks time from 10 am to 6 pm at CODA if we don't have any classes to attend. Before class ended, Mr. Mike brief us for a one day trip with the Australian students by next week ...

Project 1: Hard Surface Modeling

Objective

This project will be focusing on creating Model based on Texture (Hand-Painted or Photo-Real) by utilizing lighting and shadow of the texture to define the form of an asset e.g. Weapon, Vehicle, Structure etc. Analysis on mesh segments for rigging and UVW layout via low-poly/high-poly meshes to produce visually appealing 3D models/assets.

We showed Mr. Kanan our sketches in week 3. I told Mr. Kanan that my idea is creating a "house train". But then Mr. Kanan said that my sketches are too complicated and I wouldn't have enough time to finish this model on time.

Then, Mr. Kanan asked me to do something like maybe I can combine the concept train with a helmet. Then, he gives me some idea with sketches some reference for me.

Then, this is the latest sketches I did for my hard surface modeling.

At week 4, we show our progress to Mr. Kanan. Mr. Kanan asked us to continue works on our assignment. He asked us to explore more on the bevel tools, multi-cut tools.

We show our final artwork to Mr.Kanan at week 5. Mr. Kanan asked us to explore on the Arnold. Asked us to try different materials and different color of Arnold. Then, Mr. Kanan extend the submission of our assignment to 1 week later to let us add some details to our model to make it better.

This is my colored model before I adding the details to my model.

Lastly, below are my final hard surface model. I added some details to the front car of the train.
