Experiential Design & Personal Project 1

Tan Shin Yih (0334900) Experiential Design  & Personal Project 1 Week 1 For the first class of experiential design & personal project 1, Mr. Mike brief us about the module and told us that we will have a collaboration project with RMIT students. He also explains to us how the collaboration will be going on and what we need to do for it. For let us understand more to the project we need to do, Mr. Mike also asks us to visit the previous work of RMIT student ( http://rmitdmcc.com/2018/ ). Mr. Mike also sends a survey to us to know everyone specialization so it would be easier to split the group later. We also being told to work with the Australian students for 2 weeks, and we will need to come out of a prototype by this 2 weeks time. We need to work with the RMIT students by this 2 weeks time from 10 am to 6 pm at CODA if we don't have any classes to attend. Before class ended, Mr. Mike brief us for a one day trip with the Australian students by next week ...

Project 2: Organic Modeling

Objective

This exercise will focus on organic (curves and smooth surface) mesh building with the understanding of anatomy, muscle and proper mesh/topology flow implementation catering for rig setups and UVW Layouts for texturing. E.g. models – human, monsters, vegetation etc.

                     __________________________________________________________

On week 8, we showed Mr. Kanan our sketches for our second project, organic modeling. Mr. Kanan asked us to draw our own organic character, maybe human, monster, animal, or others. Then, Mr. Kanan asked me to choose my favorite character and start to model it. I choose the little bunny.

Besides that, Mr. Kanan also asked us to use Photoshop to color our model to see the final outcome. Below is my first attempt for my organic model. After I show Mr. Kanan, he asked me to put the texture on it.

On week 10, Mr. Kanan decided to extend our submission to next week. He wanted us to try to explore using UV mapping to textured our model. But I met a problem is I'm really hard using this model to do the UV mapping, so I just put the normal texture on it.

On week 11, I told my problem to Mr. Kanan then only I understand my problems. Mr. Kanan said I shouldn't rotate my bunny's head and body first before texturing. And he said I should do a simple rabbit standing and open its hand with T shaped so that I can focus on half side and reflect another half, and its also easier for me to texturing. Before the class end, Mr. Kanan extends 2 days for our final poster submission.

After that, I try to redo a new bunny, stand with pose T. Then I also find some other method to do the texturing, then I combine both bunnies and design a final poster for the project.
