--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At first, I come out with two ideas, one is a tutorial of the cooking app and another one is fitness.

IDEA 1: How to do things ( Cooking )

An app that provides step to step instructions to teach people how to cook, allowing people to see what other people making and share their recipes.
  • social media food sharing ( user can share their own cooking experience and also the recipe with other users)
  • the user can rates, comment and pay tips for  all recipe
  • food recipe update every day ( breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, drink, vegetarian, side dishes, diet meal )
  • provide cooking tutorial full video or step by step
  • provide ingredients list, the time is taken for each food and also people can check the nutrition for the food
  • the user can add their own favorite list recipe
  • there are also food article  for the user to watch

IDEA 2: Fitness

An app that provides appropriate meal plans for people who's on a certain workout, and point-accumulating system based on the distance you walk per day and some daily workout for you to refer and challenge. It also provides information about running events from all over the country. Sports and foods related vouchers can be redeemed by accumulating enough points through this app.

  • Healthy food recipe
  • Workout tutorial ( Tabata, yoga workout... )
  • Workout challenge
  • Charity Run / event / jogathon
  • Run for voucher
Reference: Lose it!, JomRun

During week 3, Mr. Razif introduces us a website to us to break down our idea then he will come to discuss with us our idea one by one. I choose the first idea which is the cooking tutorial app.

After I show the ideas for Mr. Razif, he told me that this idea actually quite boring because nowadays already have a lot of app like this. He told me that it is hard to make a perfect general app for me for this period. Then, he gives me an example. If your boss now asking you to make a social media app like Facebook, that suitable for all people. As a designer and developer, you need to make all the feature that Facebook provides. Besides that, you still need to add a special feature to your app to attract people to use your app. Why not just focus on making something that usable by a small group of people or an age group of people?

Mr. Razif also recommends me to make a cooking tutorial app that only needs 5 ingredients. He says this will be very convenient for some people that don't have a lot of ingredients in their house. I also shared my idea with my classmate, one of my friend that came from another country also tell me that actually she also using a cooking app for her meals.

Then, I came out with a new idea, which is a cooking app that provides the recipe for one people only. I found that actually people hard to decide what to cook for just one or two people. Like me, sometimes I just wanted to have my meal alone at home, but then don't know what to cook, so straight cook maggie.

How to do things ( cook app ) Dine Yourself

Survey

Process Flowchart

Then, Mr. Shamsul asks us to start with the prototype for the usability testing.

At first, I do the wireframe in this style, but Mr. Shamsul said that this mode will be more like a information of teaching the user how to use the app.

Then, I change the style into black and white and continue work with the prototype. At first, I planned to use the paper prototype to test the usability test, but there is a lot if step for a paper prototype, so I change to using Adobe XD to create the prototype.

Here is the progress of the prototype.

I also have a usability test with a graphic design student, then she gives me a really good question to improve my app as she said my app looks simple and direct, easy to understand, but then go to the profile section, I put the profile inside the favorite site. That is an inconvenience for the user as people are always want to edit their profile. I did some changes to my design after collecting the comment.

Then, I also start to design my logo for my app "Dine Yourself".
